Julia A. Stark Elementary School Exterior and Interior Improvements

In 2023, Julia A. Stark received $289,142 for HVAC work as part of a competitive grant from the State of Connecticut. The City completed heating and ventilation improvements utilizing Federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds and American Rescue Plan (ARP) Funds in the summer of 2024.

Building on prior investments in this historic neighborhood school, which opened in 1927, repairs to the exterior brick facade, new windows, and new roofing. The interior will also be receive improvements to flooring and restrooms.

This work has received approved educational specifications from the Board of Education. An architecture and engineering firm has prepared documents and cost estimates to apply for State grant reimbursement.
